Comments carried over from facebook.com / Blind Guides

There is a call for "Christians" to "go after" NBC over the pledge of allegiance. This note is in response to that.
Christian can not force others to be Christian, (we have tried in the past). Neither will we convert anyone by demanding that others act or imply a faith they do not have. Millions of people in this country no longer look to Jesus when life becomes to much, because of the loud, arrogant, Un-Christlike demands of people who claim to be Christian. They turn to other forms of spirituality that have kept themselves out of the political culture war. Christianity has become a political party and a demanding group of self-righteous Pharisees. They do not care if anyone turns to Jesus, so long as they can live in some idealized version of America. They refuse to turn the other cheek, love their enemies, do unto others as they would have done to them. To imply that others should fear because they cross the line of Christians? An implication I have seen in reference to this! They turn their backs on everything the Cross teaches us. Atheist are not the problem in this country, anymore than Rome was the problem in Jerusalem the blind are leading the blind down the road of hate and not peace. People will not become Christian or even want to, because we attempt to make them bend to our will. When we lash out in hate demanding our values be respected we send them home with animosity. As we continue to act that way, the animosity grows and soon others realize that more people dislike Christians than like them. That is happening right now look around and it will not change with more demands or attitude it will change when Christians act like Jesus. Until that day others will grow in their resentment, toward those who call themselves Christian. I am more concerned with the fact that those who call themselves Christian and represent my faith in public have no idea how to act like Jesus, than I am about any pledge on NBC. If anyone thinks what I am saying is not in keeping with Christianity read Matthew 23, Jesus did not speak harshly to the broken sinners of his day. He spoke to the broken religious body that should have done more to represent God to people. Blind guides who strain a gnat and swallow a camel.
